Indian Army SSC Tech Selection Process
A. Shortlisting of Applications
- Candidates are shortlisted based on their cumulative percentage of marks in their engineering degree up to the final semester/year.
- The Integrated Headquarters of the Ministry of Defence (Army) determines the cutoff percentage for each engineering discipline.
- Final-year students can apply provisionally but must meet the eligibility criteria before selection.
B. SSB Interview Process
- Shortlisted candidates receive an allotment for an SSB (Services Selection Board) interview at one of the designated centers: Allahabad, Bhopal, Bengaluru, or Jalandhar.
- The interview process includes psychological tests, group testing, and a personal interview conducted by officers from the Selection Board.
- The SSB interview follows a two-stage selection process:
- Stage 1: Screening tests, including Officer Intelligence Rating (OIR) and Picture Perception and Discussion Test (PPDT). Candidates who do not qualify are sent back the same day.
- Stage 2: Psychological assessment, group tasks, and personal interviews, followed by a conference to determine final recommendations.
- The interview process lasts five days.
C. Medical Examination
- Candidates recommended by the SSB undergo a comprehensive medical examination to assess their physical fitness and medical standards.
- Only medically fit candidates proceed to the merit list.
D. Merit List & Final Selection
- The final merit list is prepared based on the SSB interview performance.
- In case of a tie, preference is given to the older candidate, and if the age is the same, then the higher percentage in the qualifying degree is considered.
