1. Educational Qualifications

  • General/EWS Candidates: The Candidates must have 55% or more in a Master’s degree or equivalent.
  • OBC-NCL, SC, ST, PwD, and Third Gender: The Candidates appearing in the CSIR NET exam 2024, requires at least 50% in a Master’s degree or equivalent.
  • Students in the Final Year or Awaiting Results: The students in the final year or awaiting results can apply provisionally but the candidates must secure the required percentage within two years of the NET result.
    • For Ph.D. admission: Deadline is one year.
  • Four-Year Bachelor’s Degree: Requires 75% marks (or equivalent grade). Relaxation of 5% for SC, ST, OBC-NCL, PwD, and EWS. Eligible for JRF and Ph.D. admission but not for Assistant Professor roles.

2. Special Relaxations

  • Third Gender Candidates: Same fee, age, and eligibility relaxations as SC/ST/PwD categories.
  • Ph.D. Holders: Those who completed their Master’s by September 19, 1991, get a 5% relaxation (from 55% to 50%).

3. Document Verification

  • Candidates must ensure they meet the eligibility requirements. False claims can result in disqualification and legal action.

4. Foreign and Specialized Degrees

  • Diplomas or certificates from foreign or Indian universities must be verified for equivalence with Indian Master’s degrees by the Association of Indian Universities (AIU).

5. Age Limits

  • Junior research fellow (JRF):
    • Maximum age: 30 years as of February 2025.
    • Relaxations:
      • Up to 5 years for OBC-NCL, SC, ST, PwD, Third Gender, women, research experience, or armed forces service.
      • Total relaxation cannot exceed 5 years.
  • Assistant Professor: No age limit.
  • Ph.D. Admission: No age limit.
